Almost Fast Food Slider Burgers (& Homemade Dinner Rolls!)

Slider & Homemade Dinner Roll Recipe

I know I haven’t been around much lately, I have no excuse. To make up for it I am bringing you a two-for-one post today! That’s just how I roll.

I call these almost fast food sliders because they taste very similar to one of those tiny burgers made famous by a fast food chain that rhymes with…um…Mystal? Bystal?…Pistol?

Anyhow…

This recipe can be prepared using store bought dinner rolls or you can go the extra mile and make your own dinner rolls.

Easy Peasy Dinner Rolls (makes 24)
1 C warm water
2 packets yeast (or 4 1/2 tsp)
1/2 C butter, melted (margarine & coconut oil also work well)
1/2 C sugar, divided
3 eggs
2 tsp salt
5ish C all purpose flour

Proof the yeast by mixing the water, 1/4 C sugar and yeast together and letting sit for 5 minutes.

To the yeast/water add the melted butter, 1/4 C sugar, eggs and salt. Mix well.

Add the flour 1 cup at a time and mix well until it forms a dough.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes.

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and allow to rise for 1 hour.

Turn the dough out, roll into a square-ish shape and divide into 24. Roll each piece into a ball and place on a well greased baking sheet. Place the rolls about an inch apart. Cover the dough and allow to rise another hour.

Cook the rolls at 375, checking them at 20 minutes and every 4 minutes thereafter, until the are browned on top and bottom.

Almost Fast Food Sliders (makes 24)

2 lbs ground beef
1 package french onion soup/dip mix (or a homemade equivalent)
1/2 C mayonnaise
3 Tbsp mustard (I prefer Dijon)
1 1/2 C shredded cheddar (oh what the heck, go for 2 cups)
24 dinner rolls cut in half lengthwise
your favorite burger toppings

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a baking sheet.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat mix together ground beef and french onion soup packet. Cook just long enough for the meat to brown through. Drain the beef.

In a large bowl combine meat, mayo, mustard & cheese. Spread mixture onto bottom of dinner rolls. place tops on dinner rolls and place burger on the greased baking sheet. Cover the burgers with foil and put in the oven.

Bake in oven for 30 minutes. Top as desired.

    • These rolls are sooo easy! And incidentally, if you spelled your name with a K you’d have the same name as the fast food chain mentioned 😉
